The Foamed Polypropylene Film (FPF) is a keycomponent of the Bolis Production.
More than forty years of experience characterize this
unusual product which has interesting esthetic and
functional qualities.
The basic technology used in the production process for
these MOPP films (Mono-axially Oriented Polypropylene)
derives from the company's ongoing research. The studies
are geared to enhancing the surface appearance, an
essential ingredient for the shine and the silky effect of
the final product, and to improving the excellent ease of
handling and stability of the shape.
High production standards guarantee the quality of the
product in terms of thickness, weight, width and
resistance to shrinking in the successive hot or cold
processing phases.
Our films develop from the basic product SPLENDENE progress to combinations of finish
treatments that include laminating, vacuum metallizing, embossing, printing right down to
the innovative process RICCIOLIS. Thanks to our recent research efforts, this new product
has a spontaneous self-curling characteristic which generates the curls without having to
mechanically stretch the fibers.
The films are perfect for transformation into decorative ribbons (bows, stars, rolls, bobbins,
strips, etc.) which form the groundwork of impact packaging, such as esthetic supports which
resist traction stress (handles for heat-retractable packing or baskets for food products), as a
support for laminating with other films or surfaces in general, for printing, ultrasound pinning
and so on.
The thickness of the film ranges from 90 to 150 µm,while the weight per unit area is approximately 55 gr/m²,
reaching a maximum of 80 in the more complex films.
It is generally supplied in jumbo rolls of width of between
56 and 1000 mm. However they can also be produced in
pancackes of smaller width by exploiting new winding
technology that maximizes the quantity of product per
single unit. In this way, the efficiency of the client's
transformation plant is not compromised.
In our own plant, we transform almost 2000 tons of film per year and for every requisite the
procedure is immediately shared with the extrusion division for the natural follow-up
improvements. The market leadership enjoyed by Bolis in the sector of decorative ribbons
is therefore a tangible guarantee for the converter companies.
